H.S. Strut is synonymous with realistic sound and simplicity. That's what makes the crow call the choice of national champions and weekend hunters alike. Its unique design requires less air than conventional calls, so it takes less effort to use. Blowing lightly is all that's necessary.
A crows vocabulary consists of about 25 sounds, but 3 of those sounds are sure fire ways to get spring gobblers to answer back.
Assembly Call: This is a two-note call, a smooth and raspy note. The smooth note s made by saying the "fuu." The raspy note is made by humming the word "all" in your throat. Combine the two for medium to close-range calling.
Alert Call: Say "fuu" in 1/2 second intervals in series of two's and three's. This is a long-range call used when crows are just audible. It's also very effective in eliciting shock gobbles from spring longbeards.
Caw: This is the most common call. To make this sound, hum the word "all" in a series of three's fairly rapidly.
Remember: Make your calls by forcing up from your diaphragm. Don't bite the mouthpiece. Just place your lips on the lip slots and block out all of the air. Keep your call out of direct sunlight to avoid reed warpage and distorted sound.
